I haven’t done a product post in a looooooooooong time. But I’ve tried some new ones lately that I really love, so here goes. All of these are greener than green. You’ll notice several are from Ava Anderson. Michaleen from over there sent me a lovely sampling, and I’m including her info at the end of this if you’re interested in ordering.
Ava Anderson Body Butter: smells like a lemon grove and it’s safe for Luciana to rub all over herself (including in her mouth) which she likes to do as she helps smear it on me. It’s rich without being heavy and doesn’t get anything greasy.
Eminence Citrus Exfoliating Wash: recommended by my esthetician/best friend Juliana. I love this as much as I love my One Love Organics cleanser and scrub. I actually like rotating cleansers–think my skin appreciates the novelty. For those of you in LA, you can buy it here, and while you’re at it, schedule a facial and/or massage with said Juliana.
One Love Organics Body Serums: I am a die-hard fan of everything One Love, and these feel like the super-splurge I can semi-justify because my body is a freaking miracle and it deserves some princess treatment. With Luciana expressing some, um, anger and frustration and sadness over me being gone a lot these days (separate post on that coming soon), I picked Chamomile to help me keep my cool when really sometimes I’d like to join her in a tantrum.
Ava Anderson diaper cream: rivals Honest healing balm in its versatility and loveliness. It seriously feels like silk in my hand, and I used it on one set of Luciana’s cheeks for a diaper rash which was healed the next day, and on her other set of cheeks when she got a little wind-burn. I practically watched the burn disappear with this stuff on it.
Rose Geranium essential oil: this is one of my favorite smells–I actually used it during labor to help me relax. I’ve been mixing a tiny bit in the coconut oil I rub on Luciana before bed. It’s said to help with deep sleep. She still wakes up at 530, but I have to say that for the most part she is a solid sleeper once she’s down. This may or may not contribute to that, but she likes smelling the bottle and helping me mix, and I love how she smells when I put her down. I use this one, that I got from Golden Bridge; any organic one will do I’m sure!
For both of us:
Ava Anderson sunscreen: I’ve tried a lot of green sunscreens, and most of them leave a lot of white on both of us. This one is a little white at first, but it’s easier to rub in than some others I’ve tried. On Luciana it pretty much disappears, and the barely-visible white it leaves doesn’t bother me. On me I can see it a bit more, but gentle blot with a towel and some tinted moisturizer on top and I’m good to go.
Various items from the fridge which make fabulous, um, collages on the floor and also double as skin and hair boosters: yogurt, avocado, honey, olive oil. You name it we’ve tried it (accidentally or on purpose) and these are the ones we agree on. But you know that.
I’m still searching for a green shampoo for me that I love. If you have one please share!!!
